SYTT: Pre-Hibernation Event
This year has absolutely flown by, so before the years highlights post goes up later this month, today's blog and the first in quite some time is about the Pre-Hibernation Event that took place at South Yorkshire Transport Trust's premises in Rotherham on Sunday 10th December 2017. The first time i've ever visited this facility and only it's second open event to date. One of the big focuses on the trust is the former South Yorkshire 'Mainline' brand and so seen below are Alexander PS bodied Volvo B10M's 605 G605NWA and 767 N767CKY, the latter being one of the newest collections within the group along with former Isle Coaches Northern Counties Paladin bodied DAF SB220GS N600ABC.

Another main focus within the group is the traditional South Yorkshire Transport colours and one of the most popular vehicles within the collection is Mark 2 Leyland National 1075 FWA475V which has been superbly restored to it's former glory.

As well their corporate colours, South Yorkshire Transport ran a few oddities back in the day, including this pristine looking Optare bodied Dennis Domino, one of a batch of 14 new in 1985. It's seen below in the revamped "Little Nipper" colours.

Finally one of the most interesting finds on site was a bus new to London General, it's a Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart but interestingly the first one LDP1 P501RYM. This is an interesting acquisition and probably was on the radar of a lot of preservationists. However it's not currently in the prettiest of sights and requires quite a lot of restoration. Myself along with many others will be very much looking forward to sampling this once it's eventually restored. Therefore wish the team behind it all the best.

That's all for this post, hope you enjoyed looking at a few of the highlights of a very well organised event in what was very off putting weather conditions. Next up will be a summary of the years events and highlights in approximately two weeks time.
Thanks for reading!
